224 (Hexham) Squadron

Public Events

Every year 224 (Hexham) Squadron are invited to attend and assist at events within the community, it gives us a chance to raise awareness of the squadron and allows the community to take advantage of the help we can provide.

The Northumberland County Show

The Northumberland County Show ask the cadets to assist in the general running of the show, as it is a large event we only play a small but none the less important role. Cadets help out fire marshalling at tents, help exhibitors set up and help take stands down at the end of the show.

The Allendale Challenge is a tough walking challenge that cadets assist at. The cadets set-up and man check point along the gruelling walk to feed and water the competitors and ensure everyone gets through the checkpoints safe and sound. It is a tiring but enjoyable event.

This is one of the cadets favourite events, it is on a much smaller scale than the County Show but allows the cadets to take part in a range of different activities. Cadets help horses cross the road, keep spectators safe at the cross country event and help set up the horse jumping arena.
