Shooting
Some parents are concerned about letting their children shoot but all shooting is done by fully qualified range staff and cadets have to pass their Weapons Handling Test (WHT) before being allowed on the range. There are strict safety procedures; if not followed the cadet involved can be banned from the range. We shoot on the No.8 .22 rifles, we have the opportunity to earn a variety of markmanships ranging in difficulty as well as becoming involved in shooting competitions. At the TA centre where we parade we have an indoor 25m range so shooting can be a frequent activity.
L98 training is also available this takes longer to be trained on and have age restrictions. Training is done at RAF Boulmer, they are shot on outdoor ranges as they are much more powerful than the standard No.8's used.
